Thai Table Massage

Picture
Thai Yoga Massage is a dynamic form of body work that is administered by a Certified Practitioner.  The massage is a blend of techniques that are used to promote deep relaxation and a peaceful release in the body, mind and spirit.  This ancient form of massage is used to positively affect the musculoskeletal system, as well as the internal organs, while providing deep relaxation and stress release.

Anne performs this fully clothed massage on top of the massage table, using bolsters and pillows for comfort and support.  She will guide you through a series of assisted postures, while using her hands, forearms, elbows, knees, feet, palms and thumbs to apply pressure to muscles and joints. It involves gentle stretching and twisting, rhythmic compression along muscles and their attachment points, using acupressure and various massage techniques.

The healing techniques and series of postures in this massage form helps to balance the whole body. They boost the immune system, release stress and tension, help improve circulation, and increase flexibility.  The series of postures create ability for the body to attain a deep state of relaxation.  This massage is beneficial for people of all levels of flexibility and fitness.

Ultimately, Thai Massage can be an integral part of your wellness plan, health and happiness.  A calm mind, and a balanced body that is free from pain leads to the ability to appreciate life to the fullest!

Benefits of Thai Massage
The benefits of Thai Table Massage are numerous.  By freeing tension in your muscles and joints, this therapy can improve posture, breathing, flexibility, digestion and circulation.  Muscles are stretched, inner organs are toned and emotional and nervous tension is reduced.  A deep sense of peace is often experienced during and after a treatment.

Although the main emphasis is usually on health prevention, it can also be of great therapeutic benefit for a range of specific problems and conditions such as:

+ headaches
+ back pain
+ digestive disorders
+ shoulder and neck tension
+ joint pain
+ menstrual issues
+ insomnia
and other stress related conditions
What happens in a session?
You come dressed in light, loose clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in.  A session lasts 60 minutes.

Anne uses her thumbs, palms, elbows, knees and feet to apply a combination of gentle massage, rocking and twisting, joint and spine mobilizations, acupressure and assisted yoga stretches.  With Anne using her body weight instead of strength and a steady and meditative rhythm, Thai Massage can look and feel like a graceful dance between giver and receiver.

What kind of clothing should I bring to wear?
Anything that is loose and comfortable.  Yoga or gym clothes are ideal.  I tend to keep the room warm, and use blankets, so a t-shirt and track/yoga pants should be fine.   Socks are optional.

I’m not flexible. Can I still have Thai Massage?
Absolutely! Thai Massage is completely customized to meet your needs at the flexibility level your body is currently at.   Many choose this modality specifically to increase elasticity of their muscles and therefore improve posture.

I had Thai Massage in Thailand and it hurt….  Will you hurt me?
It is never my goal to hurt my clients.   Thai Yoga Massage can be very relaxing and potentially can put you to sleep.  However, it is also therapeutic and therefore touch on some tender areas.  During deep stretches, I will make sure to check in regularly on your comfort level and ensure that you never reach a point of “too much”.

Thai massage has been practiced for more than 2,000 years.
It is believed to have been brought to Thailand from India as part of Buddhist practice.

Through work with a variety of Indian doctors it is now an accepted form of alternative medicine.
