Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage has been practiced in India for thousands of years and was originally used as a technique to keep long, thick hair in healthy condition. Originally, it only involved massage of the head and hair. The modern Indian Head Massage includes unique techniques applied to the upper back, shoulders, neck, upper arms, face, head and scalp.

How Does It Work? Therapeutic and relaxing, it involves working with a firm and gentle rhythm  to help unknot blockages and relieve pain from built-up tension.  It tackles the physical, mental and emotional effects of stress in a unique and particularly effective way. The head and hair are extremely sensitive as the face and scalp are crowded with nerve endings. This makes them very receptive to touch. Massaging the head and hair is soothing and deeply relaxing.

What happens during the treatment?  You will be asked to remove all jewelry, glasses and hearing aids, as well as your upper clothing to access your upper chest and back, neck and head. Anne will be working with your neck, head and scalp, shoulders, upper chest, hair and ears.  Essential oils are combined with organic coconut oil during the treatment, and through your hair.  (you can request that no essential oils be used, or that no oil is put into your hair).  It is recommended that you bring a wrap or hat to cover your hair for your trip back home.
