Abdominal + Visceral Massage

Picture
Eastern and indigenous healers alike regard the woman’s core, particularly her uterus, as the center of her being. In their cultures they similarly address the abdominal area with massage and movements to ensure that the uterus is aligned and the pelvic region is in balance. If it’s ever misaligned, they believe, everything else in her life will be off balance. These practitioners also consider the abdomen very important in treating anxiety, depression, insomnia, chronic stress and other mental health conditions, and believe that abdominal massage directly improves mental and emotional well-being.

Visceral manipulation involves abdominal massage that combines pressing, deep strokes, and gentle movement to release restrictions in your core structures. The fascia and muscles of the core are treated, and the abdomen is massaged to increases the circulation of blood and nutrients into the organs. . The goal is to restore the pliable, mobile state that helps your organs get the circulation, nutrients, and suppleness they need to function properly. This also allows the muscles in the region to relax, reduces cramping and constipation and even lower back pain. As restrictions are gently released, the pelvic organs return to their proper position which in turn allows the hormones to go into balance as well.

Abdominal massage helps to:
  • improve blood circulation to and from the organs
  • reduces pain and bloating
  • accelerates waste removal
  • enhances hormone production
  • stomach, intestines and pancreas are better able to convert food into energy
  • allows the diaphragm to contract more fully
  • potentially increases lung capacity and strengthens respiration
  • reinforces the ability of the liver and kidney to detoxify waste products in the blood
